Chamber Echoes – May 2018

We had a great meeting May 14th at the Moriches Bay Diner. Kevin O’Brien & Glenn Graham presented their plans for 3 Mobil stations that they have in the planning stages. Two are existing and one will be newly constructed. They are all planned to have a mini-mart and will be newly refurbished.

We also had Douglas Hynes and Gobind Bathija present their plans for a Dairy Queen to be located between Soundwaves and Carpet Express on Montauk Hwy.

Two Summer Programs at the Community Library

Rachel Wyneken, Department Head of Children’s and Parent Services at MMS Community Library, presented two new programs for the Summer season. The first is the Summer With Us Summer Reading Journal Program that includes participation of local businesses. It’s free to any business that wants to be a part of it. The library isn’t accepting any more business partners this year but interested businesses should contact them for 2019.

The second program is for three summer concerts to be held at William Floyd Elementary grounds and free of charge to all. The library is looking for sponsors for any of the concerts.

Informational meetings for the proposed sewer system were also addressed at the meeting.

Stay Involved with the Chamber This Summer

Great things are coming this summer and in the future for our community and hopefully some great new businesses. Our next meeting will be on Monday, June 11th at the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge. The Friends of Wertheim will be doing a presentation about all the programs and events that are available at this beautiful location. We will be supplying lunch for everyone.
