Chamber Echoes – June 2018

This month’s general meeting was held on Monday, June 11th at the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge, located at 40 Smith Road in Shirley, NY. It was a real pleasure to have a meeting at such a beautiful venue and many members were in attendance. The Chamber provided a free lunch to all who came.

A Wonderful Resource Right in Our Backyard

We were treated to a presentation by Refuge Manager Michelle Potter covering what the federal wildlife refuge does and the various programs and activities that are offered. We were able to walk through the welcome center and gift shop and got plenty of information.

The refuge is open year round and offers hunting, fishing, interpretation, environmental education, wildlife observation and photography, and 6.5 miles of nature trails.

Also discussed was our upcoming “Chambers Are Wild” multi-chamber networking event on June 13th with the Bellport, Patchogue and Gordon Heights Chambers at the Bellport Country Club.

Off for the Summer!

Please note that there will be no general meeting for months of July and August. See you in September. Enjoy your summer!
